RBC — Two men were arrested on drug charges Sunday night on Highway 13.
“The vehicle was stopped for speeding, 12 miles south of Meeker,” said Undersheriff Mike Joos. “Both men are illegal aliens. There is no bond, because if immigration puts a hold on them, they can’t post bond.”
The two men: German Melchor, 32, and Herminio Pizano, 19, both gave a Craig residence. Sheriff’s Deputy Clay Caldwell made the arrest.
A search of the vehicle — a 1993 Isuzu Rodeo — produced 67 grams of cocaine and 10 grams of methamphetamine. A patrol dog, Rio, was used in the search.
Both men were charged with two Class 3 felony crimes: possession with intent to distribute cocaine and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. They were also charged with a Class 4 felony crime of possession of cocaine and methamphetamine. In addition, they were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as being illegal immigrants. The driver was charged with not having a valid driver’s license, which is a misdemeanor.
The men — who are from Chile — are being held in the Rio Blanco County Detention Center. A court date was set for Friday.
