All things together: Mountain Sage Therapeutics to provide complementary wellness modalities

A new business is emerging in Meeker this week: Mountain Sage Therapeutics offers movement, energy, and massage therapy for humans and animals, and animal communication for companion animals.

Teresa Wilde is certified in multiple healing and wellness methods and is in the process of adding additional certifications. She grew up in Platteville, Colorado, a small agricultural community on the other side of the Continental Divide. After initially pursuing a nursing degree, she took an interest in massage therapy, graduating from massage school in Fort Collins in 2004. Since then, she’s studied and added other complementary modalities to her professional repertoire, including canine massage, multiple energy healing techniques, yoga teacher training including Restorative and Yin Yoga, and more. She’s currently taking classes in large and small animal acupressure and pursuing a teaching certification in Qi Gong.

Wilde’s fiance and business partner Justin is the son of Donna Noller and the late Gary Noller. He moved to the Greeley area shortly after graduating from Meeker High School in 1995. There, he was a Firefighter and got his degree in Fire Science.  After his father passed away in January 2023, he and Wilde decided to relocate to his hometown of Meeker to get out of the city and be closer to his mom. Noller returned to Meeker in late April of 2023, and Wilde joined him in September.

Wilde employs a multi-layered approach to wellness and sees the modalities she uses as complementary to modern Western medicine. “All of these complementary therapies can be so helpful when added to an overall wellness plan.” Studies indicate practices like massage, yoga and energy work can improve a patient’s state of mind, reduce pain and benefit overall quality of life.

“I have found often times that there is this polarization between medicinal systems and I don’t think that’s necessary. All of them can be helpful in different situations or concurrently. There are certainly situations where you need Western Medicine. You may need an antibiotic, or you need surgery, but it doesn’t mean it’s the only thing that’s valuable,” Wilde said.

Wilde also has an expanded appreciation for other cultures’ traditional medicinal practices with her background in Anthropology and History. She has a BA with concentrations in History, Anthropology and English and a minor in American Indian Studies from Washington State University.

Noller, who works remotely, said he was surprised by the level of community demand for these kinds of therapies. He was initially skeptical, but said the results he’s witnessed are undeniable.

The same therapies that are effective on people can also help their pets. “Animals are sensitive to energy,” Wilde said. That sensitivity makes them good candidates for complementary treatments like massage and therapeutic touch. Wilde has been certified in animal communication for about 10 years. Animal communication can be helpful to better understand the cause of behavioral changes or the source of pain in their pets. It can also be helpful to help animals prepare for upcoming trips, new additions to the family, etc.

Wilde also plans to offer Qi Gong, various massage modalities, and various yoga classes like chair yoga, restorative, and Yin yoga, along with other movement therapies. She looks forward to meeting the people and animals of Meeker and offering services and classes that can help others in a variety of ways.

To learn more about options available for clients, stop by Mountain Sage Therapeutics at 640 Main St. (next to Rocky Mountain Hairbenders) for the grand opening celebration on Thursday, Feb. 29 from 5-8 p.m.
