MEEKER I Five arrests have been made following a break-in at the Meeker Golf Course.
The break-in reportedly occurred between April 29 and 30 and 19 bottles of liquor were stolen, valued at almost $400. According to the affidavit, the alcohol was stolen “for the after-prom party.” The Meeker High School prom was held May 1.
“That’s the direction, we think. That it’s related to after-prom activities,” said Sgt. Roy Kinney, Rio Blanco County sheriff’s investigator.
Those arrested included Dakota Rowlett, Colby Schaefer and James Sizemore, who are seniors at MHS and are over the age of 18. The charges included burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary, tampering with physical evidence, all felonies, as well as misdemeanor charges of theft, criminal trespass and unlawful acts.
Also arrested were Andrew Lawrence, who was graduated from MHS last year and is under 21, and Merrill Wade Brandon, 33, who was arrested Jan. 17 on felony charges, including contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Their charges include accessory to a crime, a felony, and theft by receiving, and obstructing a government operation, all misdemeanors. Brandon was also charged with allowing the sales, serving/giving of alcohol to a person under 21.
Entry was made through a window in the men’s restroom at the golf course pro shop. The bottles of alcohol were taken from the golf course bar.
