Sales, tax revenue down 20 percent

RBC I Sales and use tax revenue remained low during the fourth quarter of 2011 across the board for Meeker, Rangely and Rio Blanco County.

New administrator in town

MEEKER I The town of Meeker’s board of trustees named Scott Mezsaros as their choice for the new town administrator, effective April 2. Meszaros will replace longtime administrator Sharon Day, who celebrated 30 years working for the town in 2011.

Ute Park receives helping hands

UnderGrounD moves to Sat.

MEEKER I A year ago this month, the Meeker Assembly of God opened the doors of the UnderGrounD to local youth in middle and high school. On Saturday, Feb. 25, they will celebrate their one-year anniversary with free pizza and random prize drawings.

PMC Foundation awards first grant

MEEKER I Pioneers Healthcare Foundation (PHF) awarded a $10,000 grant to Pioneers Medical Center on Jan. 19 to assist with the purchase of a medication dispensary machine (Pyxis).

MEEKER I It was a year ago in February that 19-year-old Meeker resident James Sizemore was killed in an avalanche while snowmobiling northeast of Meeker.

Market St. project update

MEEKER I Animal control officer Laurel Haney spoke to the board about creating a community volunteer program for the town’s animal shelter. “It’s mainly for dog walking, kennel cleaning, possibly transporting a dog if we have to take it a long way. That’s mainly what it would be,” Haney said.
