There are 10 members of the Meeker High School chorus, but they blend voices to sound stronger than their numbers. Members are Peyton Burke, Leah Bykerk-Pool, Korey Hood, Shelby Steele, Savana May, Annelise Amack, Jazzmyn Wakefield, Abby Rosendahl, Brooke Ford and Sammy Palmer. School District Music Director Jeff Hemingson announced that the chorus has been invited to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City in June 2017. They were chosen along with other outstanding ensembles from across North America to be conducted by Dr. Monte Atkinson from Colorado Mesa University in a performance of Mozart’s “Requiem.”
A nearly full crowd was on hand the evening of May 25 for the Meeker School District’s Meeker High School and Barone Middle School Spring Music Program, held in the auditorium at Meeker High School. The three Barone Middle School bands and the high school band and chorus/choir performed well under the direction of district music director Jeff Hemingson with a special piano assist by Mary K. Krueger.
The Meeker High School band is made up of 13 seasoned high school musicians, including Macy Collins, Matthew Devore, Hunter Mathe, Shelby Steele, Christopher Strate, Sierra Williams, Madeline Amack, Delenn Mobley, Kendra Nelson, Maggie Phelan, Leah Bykerk-Pool, Savana May and Rosie Wans. Steele and Amack were both chosen 2015 Western Slope Band Masters and Select Band Participants.
The Barone Middle School sixth-grade band is made up of Emily Amick, Keaton Brickey, Zagar Brown, Ivan Carrillo, Damek Chintala, Bren Crowe, Liam Deming, Zachary Eskelson, Hadley Franklin, Brayden Garr, Ty Goedert, Annalee Goodwin, Tasos Halandras, Peter Hanks, John H. Hightower, Porter Hossack, Tatumn Kennedy, Hailey Knowles, Shane Kobald, Gage Lagimoniere, Savannah Mendenhall, Aspen Merrifield, Reese Miller, Kaleb Nielsen, Macy Ridgeway, Rowdy Rosendahl, Marcela Sevillano, Zachery Simonsen, Kelton Turner and Casey Zellers.
Members of the Barone Middle School seventh-grade band are: Lane Anderson, Kelsay Atchley, Jonathan Baker, Colby Clatterbaugh, Josh Day, Tucker Ercanbrack, Braydon Garcia, Sophia Goedert, Sierra Gomez, Mason Holliday, Mariah Hood, Josue Martinez Rodriguez, Mikynna Molandes, Justin Pelloni, Cleone McPherson, Ryan Phelan, Hailey Scott, Ashdon Seibert, Marryn Shults, Carter Strate, Brynlee Williams, Ethan Drake and Tucker Ercanbrack.
There are 18 members of the Barone Middle School eighth-grade band, including Annelise Amack, Jeniffer Kincher, Kirsten Brown, Makenna Burke, Elijah Deming, Joshua Dinwiddie, Julia Dinwiddie, Kolbi Franklin, Jose Garcia, Sarina Goedert, Zachery Harman, Addie Joy, Madison Kindler, Brandon Lozano, Derek Nielsen, Karlee Nielsen, Cole Rogers and Ridge Williams.
