MEEKER I This weekend the middle school runners finished their season on the course that started their season.
“They all improved their times and had great runs! All the coaches were incredibly proud of their effort and dedication this season,” said head coach Kris Casey.
The boys ran first this weekend and Clay Crawford once again was the first to cross the finish line. He set a new record for the 1.8-mile course with a time of 11 minutes 49 seconds. Finley Deming finished in fourth place with a time of 13:18. Not far behind him in fifth place was Aidan Tapia in 13:25. Skylar Browning had an incredible finish with 16:27, outdoing his previous time by a little over two minutes. Sam Hightower ran 16:55 and Montey Franklin ran his first race with a time of 17:29. John Bair also took a significant amount of time off his race, running 18:00, beating his best time by more than four minutes. Drew Drake finished with one shoe and a time of 18:15, crushing his previous time by more than a minute. Cameron Hanberg also had an amazing race taking one minute from his previous race and finishing in 20:32. The boys’ team won the meet with 23 points, Soroco was second with 28 and Rangely placed third with 28. Soroco won the tie, due to their fifth runner placing before Rangely’s fifth runner.
The girls also had a great race and everyone beat their previous race time from this course. Adi Selle was the first Meeker runner to cross the finish line in 15:13 with Taylor Garcia finishing close behind in 15:17. Reese Clatterbaugh also had a great finish with 15:53. Addie Knowles beat her previous time by almost a minute, finishing at 15:57. Emma Bauer destroyed her previous time by almost three minutes, completing her race this weekend in 16:23. Haylee Steele rounded out the Meeker team and crushed her previous time by over two minutes, finishing this time in 17:14. Rangely girls won the meet with 10 points and Meeker was second with 29. Soroco did not have enough girls to score as a team.
