MEEKER | Meeker’s Board of Trustees met Tuesday, Nov. 15. The board approved special event liquor licenses for the Mules & Mountain end of the year event to be held at the Fairfield Center in Meeker on Dec. 10, and this year’s Skijor Meeker event at the Fairgrounds 4-H Building on Dec. 31.
Board members were presented with the 2023 draft budget, which is available for public review on the Town’s website at https://www.townofmeeker.org/2023-annual-budget-proposal/. The budget is scheduled for adoption at the Dec. 13 meeting. According to Town Manager Mandi Etheridge, the total general fund budget for 2023 is $4,856,950 and will require about $2 million in reserves to balance.
In new business:
Board members appointed Amanda Back to the planning commission; approved a memorandum of understanding with Pioneers Health Foundation to act as the fiscal agent for a $65,000 Community Block Grant the Foundation has been awarded. The grant funds will be applied to the purchase of replacement IV pumps and a Conex container to hold PPE supplies.
Trustees also approved a $250 sponsorship of Pioneers Health Foundation’s annual Jingle Mingle event, scheduled for Nov. 30.
Public Works Superintendent Russell Overton said the beaver problems at the town’s well sites have been resolved. Overton said work is underway at the town shop to install LED lighting inside and outside outlets with timers for plugging in town trucks instead of running extension cords.
The fourth land use code update workshop is set for Monday, Nov. 21 at Town Hall from 7-9 p.m. Items in particular to be discussed include short term rentals, ADUs, planned unit developments and cottage court regulations. A full draft of the updated land use code is expected to be presented to the board at the Dec. 13 town meeting, with a public hearing during the second meeting in January 2023.
Finally, Trustee Travis Day said plans to install an informational water measuring device display at Circle Park have fallen through, and the project will likely go to Rangely. Asked why the Meeker project fell through, Day said he was not at liberty to give details.
