MEEKER | Members of the Meeker Cemetery District board held off on appointing officers until the Board of County Commissioners officially re-appoints Jan Oldland to her board seat. It’s expected Oldland will replace Joe Conrado as board president.
In the Thursday, March 11 meeting, board members reviewed proposed amendments to job descriptions and pay scales for cemetery district employees discussed in a previous work session. The board approved the changes proposed, including adding “at will” verbiage to each position.
In staff updates, grounds manager Jason Blaisdell said staff is beginning to prepare for Memorial Day events. The 1942 artillery piece, which is on loan from the U.S. Army, needs to be painted. “According to our agreement with the Army we have to keep that piece pristine,” Blaisdell said.
Board members and staff are “concerned” about the quality of the reclamation of the trail that leads from the Circle Park pond to the cemetery. The trail was used as a road last summer during pond construction and was supposed to be restored by the contractor. Conrado said what has been done thus far is “not up to standard.”
Cemetery office manager Vanessa Trout said work on the historic bank robber’s trail continues, signage for the walking trail is planned, and there have been no burials last month or this month.
Conrado asked for discussion of the bylaws to be added to the April agenda, noting some items may need to be revised to comply with open meetings requirements.
