Lifeguards: The ERBM Recreation & Park District is seeking applications for two part time non-benefited, year round lifeguards, who could work up to 24 hours per week. Lifeguards are trained professional rescuers who ensure the safety of patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies in and out of the aquatic facility. Applicants must be 15 years of age or older; know how to swim; be available for daytime shifts, early morning, evening, split and/or weekend shifts; and be available a minimum of 12 hours per week. As part of the interview process, candidates will be asked to swim 300 yards using crawl stroke and breast stroke, perform a brick dive in the deep end of the pool and tread water for 2 minutes. Candidates do not need to hold a lifeguard certification card as we will train selected candidates on site. Lifeguards are also responsible for performing maintenance and inspection of the facility on a daily basis; reporting any unsafe conditions or equipment to the supervisor(s); monitoring pool water chemistry and filling out required records and reports. Salary range $9.73 – $12.91/hr. SPORTS OFFICIALS FOR

YOUTH BASKETBALL

The EASTERN RIO BLANCO METROPOLITAN RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT, a political subdivision of the State of Colorado, is soliciting proposals from qualified Sports Officials to officiate scheduled Meeker Youth Basketball (MYB) games.  The girls MYB games are scheduled on November 19, 2016 from 9am-5pm and a possible game on December 8, 2016 from 6pm-8pm.  The boys MYB games are not yet scheduled but will take place between January 9, 2017 to March 4, 2017.  Officials do not need to be available for all dates.

Interested parties are required to submit an organized letter which contains:

A history of experience and qualifications. A per game rate defined; include full compensation for labor, equipment use, liability, and other associated costs incurred per game.

Selected candidates will be required to sign an Independent Contractors Contract and provide proof of liability insurance.

WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees has determined it to be reasonable and necessary to amend and update Chapter 9.6, Offenses Relating to Public Peace, Order and Safety, Section 9.6.108, Loitering; and

WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees conducted a public hearing on this amendment on October 4, 2016; and

WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees hereby acknowledges that changes shall take effect immediately following the subsequent publication requirement and 30-day time period of this action as mandated by law; and

WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees has determined it to be reasonable and necessary to amend and update the Town of Meeker Municipal Code Chapter 9.6, Offenses Relating to Public Peace, Order and Safety, Section 9.6.108, Loitering, and that such amendments and updates are in reasonably necessary and in the best interests of the citizens of the Town of Meeker to promote the legitimate public purposes of the health, safety and welfare of the Town of Meeker and the inhabitants thereof.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE TOWN OF MEEKER AS FOLLOWS:

1. Chapter 9.6, Section 9.6.108(b)(1) shall be repealed in its entirety, and the remaining paragraphs in this Section shall be re-numbered to take this deletion into account.

2. Except as specifically modified herein the remaining provisions of the Meeker Municipal Code shall remain in full force and effect.

3. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase or portion of this Ordinance is, for any reason, held to be invalid or unconstitutional by the final decision of any court of competent jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this Ordinance.

EFFECTIVE DATE This Ordinance shall take effect thirty days after its publication as provided in C.R.S. §31-16-105.

Notice is hereby given that a copy of the Y2017 proposed budget for the General Fund, Capital Expenditure Fund, Road & Bridge Fund, Public Health Agency Fund, Human Services Fund, Capital Improvement Plan Fund, Use Tax Fund, Impact Fee Trust Fund, Conservation Trust Fund, Solid Waste Landfill Fund, Weed and Pest Control Fund, Piceance Creek Pest Control District, Lower White River Pest Control District, Fairfield Complex Fund, Central Service Fund, Fleet Management Fund, Contingent Fund, and the County Capital Improvement Trust Fund has been filed in the office of the County Clerk and Recorder, 1032 Jennifer Drive, Meeker, Colorado and the County Clerk and Recorder office, Western Annex Building, 17497 State Highway 64, Rangely, Colorado, and are open for public inspection 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. on normal work days.

Such proposed budgets will be considered at a public hearing of the Board of County Commissioners on December 14, 2016, 6:00 p.m., County Administration Building, 200 Main Street, Meeker, Colorado.

  • Mormon crickets have hatched near Rangely. They were all sighted on BLM land north of Hwy. 64 near the junction of CR 96 and CR 1, down a dirt road near the Moffat County line.  The picture shown was taken yesterday by Mary Meinen from Rangely. She says the crickets are about the size of a ladybug (less than 1/2”). Some of them are actually yellow in color but most of them are darker. They are milling around and getting ready to start moving soon. Note: Photo is not to scale.
Rio Blanco County and the White River and Douglas Creek Conservation Districts are still asking for your help to identify additional hatch-outs of crickets so that control efforts can be put in place. The success of the program will highly depend upon local landowners and the public helping to locate crickets as soon as they hatch.
