PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE SEPTEMBER 1, 2014 REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS The Victim Assistance and Law Enforcement Board of the 9TH Judicial District, which is Garfield, Pitkin and Rio Blanco Counties, is seeking grant applications from agencies and organizations to provide assistance services to crime victims. The funding cycle is January 1 – December 31, 2015. The board is committed to funding programs which provide direct services to crime victims and implement the Victim’s Rights Amendment. They may also consider scholarships for training that is related to the welfare of victims. Revenue for this fund is generated from a surcharge or fees assessed to people who are convicted of felonies, misdemeanors, traffic offenses and fish and game violations. These funds are authorized by Title 24, Article 4.2, Colorado Revised Statutes. During the 2014 grantcycle the board awarded a total of $330,000 to 13 agencies that provide services to victims in the 9th Judicial District. It is anticipated that approximately $260,000 will be available for the 2015 12-month grant cycle. NOTICE OF PROPOSED DECISION The Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety proposes to approve Permit Renewal Application No. 6 (RN-6), submitted by Blue Mountain Energy, Inc for a coal mining permit at the Deserado Mine (Permit No. C-1981-018). The proposed renewal will allow for continued mining and/or reclamation operations at the site. The Deserado Mine is a/an underground operation located in Moffat, Rio Blanco County, approximately 7 miles Northeast of Rangely, Colorado. Coal interest is federal, and the surface to be affected is federal and private land. The permit area encompasses approximately 13,645.01 acres. This proposed decision is based on a finding that the proposed operation will comply with all requirements of the Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act, Section 34 33 101 et seq., C.R.S., and the regulations promulgated thereunder.
