Rio Blanco County Republican Central Committee Meeting

RBC | Guest: CD3 Candidate Hope Scheppelman, Tuesday, Jan. 27 at 6:30 p.m. at the  Alliance Energy building, 417 E. Main St., Rangely. Come meet Hope Scheppelman and learn about the caucus and assembly process. Open to the public, only central committee members can vote on official business.

Virtual Fencing on Working Lands NEXT WEEK!

RBC | Landowners and grazing permittees are invited to join the White River/Douglas Creek Conservation Districts for an informational community meeting about virtual fencing (VF) options on Thursday, Jan. 29, 6 p.m. at Kilowatt Korner. Join state/federal/local agencies and virtual fence manufacturer representatives to discuss VF basics, partner funding opportunities, program experiences and rangeland applications. See ad on Page 5. 

Post-Fire Recovery Drop-in Session Feb 5

MEEKER | Landowners impacted by the Lee and Elk Wildfires can meet with Rio Blanco County Recovery Manager Liz Chandler to learn about the Emergency Watershed Protection Program at the Meeker Fire Department (240 7th St.) on Feb. 5 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Questions: email liz/[email protected]

Short Stories & Snacks Jan. 24

MEEKER | The Meeker Public Library Short Stories & Snacks Club is the book club for people who don’t have time to read. We will be reading “The Lady, or the Tiger?” by Frank R. Stockton. Copies of the story are available at the library, at www.gutenberg.org, or you can read it or listen to it on hoopla. We will meet at the Meeker Public Library on Saturday, Jan. 24, at 11 a.m. Snacks will be served.

Drop-in meetings for landowners affected by the Lee and Elk Fires

MEEKER | The White River Conservation District invites landowners affected by the Lee and Elk Fires to stop by our drop-in community meetings on the Thursdays of Jan. 22 and 29, from 1-4 p.m. at the District office, 345 7th St. in Meeker (no appointment needed). Staff will be on hand to visit about three wildfire recovery assistance programs for ditch cleaning, diversion infrastructure improvements, and reseeding with simple, one-page applications available on site for anyone interested. These programs are made possible through the District in partnership with local producers, agencies, and recovery funders.

Coffee Talk: Feb. 6

MEEKER | Streamline Realty is hosting Coffee Talk with Bob Lawrence, who will be talking about carbon credits. This will interest anyone with acreage, especially those who suffered land loss with the fires. Coffee Talk is at Streamline Realty (600 Main St.) in Meeker on Friday, Feb. 6 at 8 a.m..

Conservation Districts’ annual meeting Feb. 18

MEEKER | Save the date and mark your calendar! Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026, will be the annual meeting for the White River and Douglas Creek Conservation Districts. See ad on Page 4.

Crafternoons at the Library

MEEKER | Create quirky meme buttons, personalized merch, fun logos, or unique designs. For teens and tweens age 10-18 on Jan 30 from 3-5 p.m.

Cardboard Derby Feb. 14

MEEKER | Due to a lack of snow, ERBM Recreation & Park District’s annual Cardboard Derby has been rescheduled to Saturday, Feb. 14.

Community First Aid Courses in February and April

MEEKER | ERBM Recreation & Park District is hosting two American Red Cross Community First Aid classes. Learn essential First Aid, CPR, and AED skills to respond confdently to emergencies at any time. Upon completion, you will receive American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric CPR, First Aid, and AED Certifications. February Class: Saturday, Feb. 7 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Meeker Rec Center (101 Ute Rd.). Register by Feb. 2.

Adult Open Gym Pickleball Mondays and Wednesdays

MEEKER | Join ERBM Recreation & Park District for indoor pickleball ERBM Recreation & Park District for indoor pickleball during the winter months! Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Admin Gym (555 Garfield St., use parking lot door). Ages 18+. Punch Pass required – $1/person/use.
