Drop-in meetings for landowners affected by the Lee and Elk Fires. Last one!

MEEKER | The White River Conservation District invites landowners affected by the Lee and Elk Fires to stop by our drop-in community meetings on Jan. 29, from 1-4 p.m. at the District office, 345 7th St. in Meeker (no appointment needed). Staff will be on hand to visit about three wildfire recovery assistance programs for ditch cleaning, diversion infrastructure improvements, and reseeding with simple, one-page applications available on site for anyone interested. These programs are made possible through the District in partnership with local producers, agencies, and recovery funders.

Virtual Fencing on Working Lands TONIGHT!

RBC | Landowners and grazing permittees are invited to join the White River/Douglas Creek Conservation Districts for an informational community meeting about virtual fencing (VF) options on Thursday, Jan. 29, 6 p.m. at Kilowatt Korner. Join state/federal/local agencies and virtual fence manufacturer representatives to discuss VF basics, partner funding opportunities, program experiences and rangeland applications. 

Crafternoons at the Library Jan. 30

MEEKER | Create quirky meme buttons, personalized merch, fun logos, or unique designs. For teens and tweens age 10-18 on Jan 30 from 3-5 p.m.

MAMBA meeting Feb. 2

MEEKER | Our monthly MAMBA meeting will be Monday, Feb. 2 at 6:30 p.m. in the Meeker Town Hall meeting room.  Remote meeting link: https://meet.google.com/tuq-dyjp-ksv Agenda includes: CPW Grant (presentation was completed on Jan. 8), Lodging Tax Grant, Fourth of July Road Race.

Post-Fire Recovery Drop-in Session Feb 5

MEEKER | Landowners impacted by the Lee and Elk Wildfires can meet with Rio Blanco County Recovery Manager Liz Chandler to learn about the Emergency Watershed Protection Program at the Meeker Fire Department (240 7th St.) on Feb. 5 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Questions: email liz/[email protected]

Coffee Talk: Feb. 6

MEEKER | Streamline Realty is hosting Coffee Talk with Bob Lawrence, who will be talking about carbon credits. This will interest anyone with acreage, especially those who suffered land loss with the fires. Coffee Talk is at Streamline Realty (600 Main St.) in Meeker on Friday, Feb. 6 at 8 a.m..

Open Book Club Feb. 9

MEEKER | The Meeker Public Library Open Book Club is reading Outlander, by Diana Gabaldon. We will meet to discuss the book at the Meeker Public Library on Monday, Feb. 9, at 1 p.m.  Extra copies are available for check out at the library. The eBook & audiobook are available on Libby, and hoopla has audiobooks. New members are always welcome!

Cookbook Potluck Club Feb. 11

MEEKER | The Meeker Public Library Cookbook Potluck Club allows patrons to explore new cookbooks, prepare new recipes, & enjoy a potluck dinner together each month.  The February cookbook is One-Pot Wonders, edited by America’s Test Kitchen. Patrons can stop by the library to choose a recipe to prepare out of the featured cookbook, then bring their prepared recipe to a potluck meal in the Community Room at the Meeker Public Library. The next meeting will be Wednesday, Feb. 11 at 5:30 p.m. Give us a call at 970-878-5911 or stop by the library for details.

RBC Stockgrowers’ meeting Feb. 13

MEEKER | The Rio Blanco Stockgrowers’ Association’s business meeting is scheduled for noon Friday, Feb. 13, at the Rio Blanco County Commissioners’ hearing room (3rd floor Rio Blanco County Courthouse) in Meeker. Cardboard Derby Feb. 14

MEEKER | Due to a lack of snow, ERBM Recreation & Park District’s annual Cardboard Derby has been rescheduled to Saturday, Feb. 14.

Meeker Heritage Club Feb. 17

MEEKER | Meeker Heritage Club at the Library on Feb. 17th Come join us for a presentation by the museum, local history, and good conversation from 10-11 a.m. every third Tuesday. For ages 15+ in the Meeker Library Community Room. Coffee and snacks provided.

Conservation Districts’ annual meeting Feb. 18

Short Stories & Snacks Feb. 28

MEEKER | The Meeker Public Library Short Stories & Snacks Club is the book club for people who don’t have time to read. We will read the story & talk about it at the library – no homework! The featured short story is Lamb to the Slaughter, by Roald Dahl. We will meet at the Meeker Public Library on Saturday, Feb. 28, at 11 a.m. Snacks will be served.

Community First Aid Courses in February and April

MEEKER | ERBM Recreation & Park District is hosting two American Red Cross Community First Aid classes. Learn essential First Aid, CPR, and AED skills to respond confidently to emergencies at any time. Upon completion, you will receive American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric CPR, First Aid, and AED Certifications. February Class: Saturday, Feb. 7 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Meeker Rec Center (101 Ute Rd.). Register by Feb. 2.

Online Author Talks

MEEKER | Meeker Public Library Online Author Talks are live interviews with best-selling authors & award-winning writers, available to watch at the library or on your own personal device.
