Library Book Club Jan. 12
MEEKER | The Meeker Public Library Open Book Club is reading The Personal Librarian by Marie Benedict & Victoria Christopher Murray. We will meet to discuss the book at the Meeker Public Library on Monday, Jan. 12, at 1 p.m. Extra copies are available for check out at the library. The memoir is also available as an ebook or audiobook on Libby. New members are always welcome!

Joint board meeting about library appointment process
MEEKER | There will be a public joint meeting of the RBC Commissioners, Meeker Board of Trustees and Meeker Public Library Board of Trustees on Tuesday, Jan. 13, at 6 p.m., at the Rio Blanco County Courthouse in the commissioners’ meeting room (3rd floor) to review the intergovernmental agreement regarding the application process for library trustees.
Meeker Empty Bowls Tuesday, Jan. 13
MEEKER | Mark your calendars for 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 13 for the annual Empty Bowls fundraiser in the Meeker High School Lobby before the Rangely/Meeker basketball games. Bowls are handmade by the MHS Art Department, and provided with soup, salad and bread prepared by the MHS Culinary students and FCCLA. All proceeds go to PMC Meals on Wheels. Cookbook Potluck Club Jan. 14
MEEKER | The Cookbook Potluck Club will let patrons explore new cookbooks and enjoy a potluck dinner together each month. Stop by the library to choose a recipe to prepare out of the featured cookbook, then bring their prepared recipe to a potluck meal in the Community Room at the Meeker Public Library. The inaugural meeting will be Wednesday, Jan. 14 at 5:30 p.m. The first featured cookbook is The Soup Book, edited by Sophie Grigson. January drop-in meetings for landowners affected by the Lee and Elk Fires
MEEKER | The White River Conservation District invites landowners affected by the Lee and Elk Fires to stop by our drop-in community meetings on the Thursdays of Jan. 8, 15, 22, and 29, from 1-4 p.m. at the District office, 345 7th St. in Meeker (no appointment needed). Staff will be on hand to visit about three wildfire recovery assistance programs for ditch cleaning, diversion infrastructure improvements, and reseeding with simple, one-page applications available on site for anyone interested. These programs are made possible through the District in partnership with local producers, agencies, and recovery funders.
Historical Society Annual Meeting Jan. 18
MEEKER | The annual meeting of the Rio Blanco County Historical Society is planned for Jan. 18 at 1 p.m. at the Heritage Culture Center on Park in Meeker. Lunch will be provided and Ron Hilkey will be signing copies (bring your copy with you) of his book, “Two Gone Guys”.
Virtual Fencing on Working Lands
RBC | Landowners and grazing permittees are invited to join the White River/Douglas Creek Conservation Districts for an informational community meeting about virtual fencing (VF) options on Thursday, Jan. 29, 6 p.m. at Kilowatt Korner. Join state/federal/local agencies and virtual fence manufacturer representatives to discuss VF basics, partner funding opportunities, program experiences and rangeland applications.
Short Stories & Snacks Club Jan. 24
MEEKER | The Meeker Public Library Short Stories & Snacks Club is the book club for people who don’t have time to read. We will be reading The Lady, or the Tiger? by Frank R. Stockton. Copies of the story are available at the library, at www.gutenberg.org, or you can read it or listen to it on hoopla. We will meet at the Meeker Public Library on Saturday, Jan. 24, at 11 a.m. Snacks will be served.
