Grand opening of the The Heritage
MEEKER | Mark your calendars for the grand opening of The Heritage on June 3, 2023 in the Hugus Building, 594 Main St. A collaboration of efforts between Christie Borchard, the Rio Blanco County Historical Society, and the Meeker Arts and Cultural Council, the space will feature art, historical exhibits and much more.
Youth Fishing Day this weekend
MEEKER | When was the last time a game warden handed you a fishing rod and said to you, “Who needs a fishing license?” Colorado Parks and Wildlife and Meeker Recreation Center invite you to enjoy a morning of fish and fun on Saturday, June 3 at Meeker Circle Park Pond. Fun begins at 8 a.m. Before your fingers begin smelling like fish scales, stop at the Lions Club tent for a free pancake. Kids love this annual event, but anyone from toddler to an octogenarian “kid at heart” is welcome. CPW will be providing rods, fishing equipment and advice on how to untangle lines. No license is required for this event. The Lions Club and the Meeker Police Department are sponsoring a free breakfast at 10 a.m. CPW staff will offer an educational talk at 10:30 a.m. on everything you need to know about fish in Rio Blanco County and we wrap things up at 11 a.m. In case of inclement weather, we might have to cancel if safety is a concern, still, the fish don’t mind a little wetness.
Book Club meeting June 12
MEEKER | The book club will be reading “The Agitators: Three Friends Who Fought for Abolition and Women’s Rights” by Dorothy Wickenden. We will discuss the book on Monday, June 12 at 1 p.m. at Meeker Public Library. All are welcome to join in the fun.
