Who is ALICE?

MEEKER | Join United Way of the Yampa Valley members TODAY (June 12) from 2-4 p.m. at Kilowatt Korner (233 6th St.) to talk about ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) families who represents a growing number of working individuals and families who are unable to afford the basics of housing, child care, food, transportation, health care and technology. These workers often struggle to keep their own household from financial ruin, while keeping our local communities running. Learn how Alice is calculated (survival budget, housing costs, and income), why recognizing this demographic is important, and pertinent studies and resources.

Meekerpalooza returns June 13

MEEKER | The first Meekerpalooza of 2025 is scheduled for Friday, June 13, and will feature Noodle Soup Dixieland Jazz. Sign up for the cornhole tournament (prizes for the winning team!), shop the Farmer’s Market, enjoy beer garden refreshments, and soak in a perfect small town summer evening. Library book club meets June 16

MEEKER | The Meeker Public Library book club is reading “The Mysterious Case of Rudolf Diesel” by Douglas Brunt. We will meet to discuss the book at the Meeker Public Library on Monday, June 16, at 1 p.m. Extra copies are available for check out at the library if you would like to join in the fun. New members are always welcome!

Sign up for a tour of county facilities June 21 

RBC | The county is hosting a tour of county-owned facilities in Meeker and Rangely on Saturday, June 21 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.  Transportation and boxed lunch limited to the first 10 respondents from each town. Transportation will be provided via buses, and a boxed lunch will be served. You are welcome to attend even if you don’t make the first 10. You will need to arrange your own transportation and food. RSVP: Space is limited. Please RSVP to Chrissy Nielsen at 970-878-9575 with your name and party size. To ensure a meaningful and productive experience, we respectfully ask that all participants commit to attending the full tour.

Summer library program for older kids

MEEKER | This summer, we’re diving into chapter books for older kids, kicking things off with Roald Dahl’s “Matilda”! Join us at 10 a.m. every Wednesday at the Meeker Public Library. And mark your calendars for August when the community takes the stage with a lively performance of MATILDA!

Babysitter Training Course July 11-12

MEEKER | ERBM Recreation & Park District is hosting a Babysitter Training Course for teens ages 12–18. The program will cover basic childcare, leadership, professionalism, safety, and how to start a babysitting business, as well as Pediatric First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications from the American Red Cross. Friday, July 11, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Saturday, July 12, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. $75/person includes official certificates and a reference book to keep. Celebrate Solstice at THE TANK

RANGELY | The TANK’s 10th annual Solstice Festival starts Friday, June 20 and continues through the weekend. On Friday at 7 p.m. join a free Sound Bath led by composer and trumpeter Matthew Langford. A general jam will follow. On Saturday, the actual summer solstice, gather for a sunrise ceremony at 5:46 a.m. and convene again for solar culmination at 1:17 p.m. Saturday is the headliner concert with Raven Chacon + Death Convention Singers at 8 p.m. Tickets can be purchased here: https://bit.ly/3Hsvv48. On Sunday, June 22, gather for a group sing at 10:30 a.m. and close the festival at noon.

Rep. Lukens, Sen. Roberts schedule Meeker visit June 26

MEEKER | Meghan Lukens, Colorado House District 26, and Dylan Roberts, Colorado Senate District 8, will be in Meeker, June 26, at the Meeker Library, for the 2025 Post-Legislative Session Town Hall Tour, 5:30-6:30 pm. Take time out of your busy schedule to attend. Get an update on the legislative session and share your thoughts.
