Meet & greet for Romero Friday, May 15

MEEKER | Dwayne Romero, candidate for Congress in CO-03, will be in Meeker this Friday, May 15, from 8:30-9:30 a.m. in the meeting room at Mountain Valley Bank for a meet and greet.

Smithsonian Exhibit opens Friday, May 15

MEEKER | The White River Museum will host the Smithsonian traveling exhibit “Americans” during May and June 2026. An opening reception will be held Friday, May 15 at 6 p.m. Community members and media are invited to attend. Representatives from History Colorado will be present, along with Mark Wing, a Ute Mountain Ute elder, who will share personal perspectives connected to the exhibit. The exhibit explores what it has meant to be American through history and invites reflection on identity, values, and civic life.

New Earth grand re-opening this Saturday

MEEKER |  New Earth, located at 594 Main St., Suite 11, will host a grand re-opening celebration May 16 from noon to 5 p.m. The event will include an open house with food, sweet treats from Wild Flour and coffee from Wendll’s, along with special discounts and raffle entries for a prize bag with each purchase. New Earth offers crystals, healing products and community-focused events and services.

Meeker Heritage Club meets May 19 at the Library

MEEKER | The Meeker Heritage Club will meet May 19 from 10-11 a.m. at the Meeker Public Library community room. The program includes a museum presentation, local history and discussion. The group meets the third Tuesday of each month. Open to ages 15 and older.

BLM presentation on responsible camping May 20

MEEKER | Learn about responsible camping on public lands during a presentation by the Bureau of Land Management on May 20 from 4-5 p.m. at the Meeker Public Library community room. Open to ages 13 and older.

Tole craft at library May 21

MEEKER | Craft Crazy With Erin will be making a Tole Dragonfly Decoration on May 21 at 5 p.m. For more information go to meekerlibrary.org and check out our calendar. Drop by the library or call 970-878-5911 to register.

Lukens, Roberts to visit Rangely for a Town Hall on May 21

RANGELY | State Representative Meghan Lukens, House District 26, and State Senator Dylan Roberts, Senate District 8, are inviting you to attend a Rio Blanco County Legislative Town Hall, in Rangely, Thursday, May 21, at 5:30 PM, at 209 East Main Street. They are looking forward to sharing updates of the last legislative session and answering questions.

MRC closed until May 25

MEEKER | Meeker Recreation Center will be closed May 4-25 for HVAC replacement, pool and fitness room improvements, deep cleaning, and general maintenance. Because this year’s closure is longer than usual to accommodate these projects, all active memberships will be extended by one month. Summer hours will resume Tuesday, May 26. MACC Community Theater auditions Tuesday, May 26

MEEKER | The MACC Community Theater will present Finding Neverland as its 2026 summer musical, with auditions set for Tuesday, May 26, at the Meeker High School auditorium. Auditions are open to students entering ninth grade through adults. Those interested in lead roles should prepare a song and a short monologue. Women are asked to prepare “All That Matters” from the show, while men may choose a song of their preference. Participants not seeking lead roles may still sign up to be part of the cast. Crafternoon rescheduled to May 28

MEEKER | The Meeker Regional Library has scheduled its May Crafternoon to May 28 from 3–5 p.m. The featured activity will be “cloud dough” slime, with participation limited to 11 people; reservations are required and can be made by phone (970-878-5911) or in person. Additional craft options will be available for unlimited participants.

Pig roast and country dance May 30

MEEKER | The White River Community Association is hosting its third annual Country Dance on May 30 at the Buford Schoolhouse as one of our fundraisers to keep the Schoolhouse in good condition.  This year will also offer a pig roast for the first 100 people beginning at 6 p.m., followed by dancing to live music by Cimarron at 8 p.m. Cost is $25 per plate for dinner and dance, or $15 per person for the dance only. BYOB and join the fun. We look forward to seeing you there!

Grazing workshop planned June 6

MEEKER | A hands-on grazing workshop aimed at helping ranchers manage drought and wildfire conditions is set for June 6 at the 4M Ranch near Meeker. “In the Field with Jim Gerrish,” led by grazing expert Jim Gerrish, runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will cover practical strategies to improve rangeland health and profitability. The event includes a morning session and afternoon field tour. Hosted by the White River and Douglas Creek conservation districts, the cost is $35 and includes meals. Butterfly Experience series in June

MEEKER | The Meeker Public Library will host a “Butterfly Experience” series June 1, 8, 15 and 22 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. in the community room. Participants will observe caterpillars transform into butterflies, with a release planned June 22. Open to all ages. Call 970-878-5911 to register.
