MEEKER | Curious about the future of water in the White River Valley? Join us for a special evening with Dr. Ryan Bailey on May 22 at 6 p.m. at the Meeker Firehouse, where he’ll unveil the results of a multi-year water study conducted by the White River Integrated Water Initiative. This is your chance to learn how changes in irrigation, prolonged drought, and shifting water use could impact our region’s flow levels—and what it means for the Meeker and Rangely communities. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear from one of the leading voices in groundwater science, ask questions, and be part of the conversation shaping the future of our water resources.

Memorial Day Celebrations Friday, Monday

MEEKER | Members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5843 will have the poppy table outside the Meeker Post Office on Friday, May 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Anyone willing to help can come place flags on veterans’ graves at Highland Cemetery from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday. On Monday at 9:30 a.m. join the VFW for the annual Wreath Ceremony at the 5th St. Bridge, immediately followed by the traditional ceremony at the cemetery. 

Meeker High School Commencement Saturday, May 24

MEEKER | Commencement exercises for the Meeker High School Class of 2025 will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 24 at Starbuck Stadium (550 School St.). Copies of the graduation program will be available at the event, and will be inserted into the May 29 Herald Times. 

Free sound bath May 26 at The TANK

RANGELY | Flutist, recording artist and sound practitioner Sherry Finzer returns to The TANK (233 CR 46) on Monday, May 26 at 6:30 p.m. to provide sound healing to the Town of Rangely with a free sound bath featuring her wide collection of flute, singing bowls, chimes, gongs and more. Bring your own yoga mat, pillow, blanket and eye covering to enhance this meditative and healing experience Space is limited. Please arrive early as the door will be closing exactly at 6:30 p.m. 

Customer service training May 29

MEEKER | Join the Meeker Chamber for a class on “Mastering Customer Engagement” on May 29, 2025, from 12-1 p.m. at the Business Center (Town Hall). Lunch will be provided. Go beyond basic customer service and turn everyday customer interactions into lasting relationships? Learn the strategies and techniques that keep customers coming back. 

Community Hike, June 1

MEEKER | Meeker United Methodist Church is sponsoring a community hiking and gathering for all ages at Sanderson Park (1091 Sanderson Rd.) on June 1 at noon. There will be a short hike and a longer hike option on the trails which start at the park. For those who don’t wish to hike, just come by to visit. Let’s join together to spend time outdoors in this beautiful setting God has blessed us with. 

Good Ole Country Dance at Buford School House June 7

MEEKER | The White River Community Association invites you to the second annual “Good Ole Country Dance” at the Buford School House (42600 County Road 17) on Saturday, June 7. Please join us from 8 p.m. to midnight for dancing to the live band, Cimarron. Light snacks and water will be provided. BYOB (bring your own bottle). Donations encouraged and all proceeds go to support the upkeep of the historical Buford School House.

Library book club meets June 16

MEEKER | The Meeker Public Library book club is reading “The Mysterious Case of Rudolf Diesel” by Douglas Brunt. We will meet to discuss the book at the Meeker Public Library on Monday, June 16, at 1 p.m.  Extra copies are available for check out at the library if you would like to join in the fun. New members are always welcome!
