Historical Society Social Sunday, Oct. 19

MEEKER | All are invited to the Rio Blanco County Historical Society’s quarterly gathering this Sunday, Oct. 19 at 1 p.m. at the Cultural Heritage Center (517 Park) in Meeker. Come visit our precious local museum and enjoy a chili and cornbread lunch. Bring dessert or a side to share if you’re able.

Love Meeker? Seasonal volunteers wanted for the Chamber

MEEKER | Do you love Meeker and enjoy meeting new people? The Meeker Chamber of Commerce is looking for part-time, seasonal volunteers to help greet visitors, answer phones, hand out maps, and share all the wonderful things our town has to offer. Bake sale Oct. 24 & Nov. 7

MEEKER | Meeker’s Women’s Bible Study group will be holding their annual bake sales on Oct. 24 and Nov. 7 from 8:30-noon in front of Backcountry Outpost (223 8th Street). They always use the money raised to support local, national and international charities. Please come by for some homemade goodies and support this effort.

Meeker Library Book Club

MEEKER | The Meeker Public Library Book Club is reading The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova. We will meet to discuss the book at the Meeker Public Library on Monday, November 10, at 1:00 p.m.  Extra copies are available for check out at the library if you would like to join in the fun. New members are always welcome!

Pumpkins Eats ‘N Treats Oct. 31

MEEKER | Join ERBM and local businesses and organizations for community fun, trick-or-treating, and a costume parade in downtown Meeker this Halloween. Trick-or-treating will begin at 4 p.m., followed by the Costume Parade (line up at 4:45 p.m., parade at 5 p.m.). Businesses, call 970-878-7421 to reserve booth space.

Turkey shoot Nov. 1

MEEKER | The Meeker Sportsman’s Club is hosting the Annual Kenny Johnson Memorial Turkey Shoot. Join us at the MSC range on Nov. 1, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. $2 per entry at each event: Steel Silhouette Challenge, 100yd Benchrest, Bowling Pin Shoot, Mini Run N’ Gun. Turkey prizes for event winners! Babysitter Training Course Nov. 14-15

MEEKER | Learn how to provide quality care to children of all ages and obtain your Pediatric First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications. This American Red Cross class will be taught Friday, Nov. 14 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 15 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.$75 each for certification and Training Handbook, ages 12+. Candy donations sought for Walbridge Wing trick-or-treaters

MEEKER | The Walbridge Wing at Pioneers Medical Center is seeking candy donations for residents to hand out to trick-or-treaters on Halloween. If you can donate a bag of treats, please drop it off at 100 Pioneer Medical Center Dr., in Meeker.

Ashes to Action: Potluck Nov. 1

MEEKER | The Lee and Elk Fires altered our landscape, and the fires’ impacts will continue to challenge us. Join us as we gather to appreciate our community and show ongoing support for friends and neighbors on Saturday, Nov. 1 at the Fairfield Center (200 Main).
