But if they are abused, they can stifle brain development, warp understanding, and pose personal risk. This discussion will explain how LLM’s work, how they can help students learn, and how to use them wisely – and safely – in the classroom and at home.
Cookbook Potluck Club at the library
Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 5:30 p.m. at Meeker Public Library. Choose a recipe from Spices of Life by Nina Simonds, then join us for a delicious potluck meal of selected recipes at the library. Only 2 more potlucks in 2026! We’ll take a break in November & December, then return in January 2027.
Meet and greet lawmakers Sept. 22
On Sept. 22, Rio Blanco Democrats will host a meet-and-greet with state Rep. Meghan Lukens of House District 26 and state Sen. Dylan Roberts of Senate District 8. The gathering will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Meeker Town Park Pavilion. Everyone interested in hearing from the state lawmakers is encouraged to attend. Those planning to stay for dinner should bring a dish to share.
VVH offering two free webinars
Valley View University will offer a free Zoom webinar, “Training Tips for Healthy Hips,” at 6 p.m. Sept. 23, featuring orthopedic surgeon Dr. Daniel O’Connor and physical therapists Linda Geiss and Hannah Heron. A second free webinar, “Fresh Look: Eyelid Lifts & Rejuvenation,” will be held at noon Sept. 24 with Dr. Jennifer Butterfield and physician assistant Sarah Davis. Register at vvh.org.
Free Recovery festival Sept. 25
The Health Partnership will host a free Fall Recovery Festival from 12-2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, at Circle Park in Meeker. The Recovery Month event will include a barbecue, potluck, cornhole, outdoor activities and information about local recovery resources. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be provided; attendees are invited to bring a side or dessert to share.
