Nominations open for JustServe

RBC | Nominations are open for the second annual JustServe award. Each year, JustServe recognizes outstanding contributions to the local community through volunteer service. Last year’s inaugural winner was the Boys and Girls Club of Northwestern Colorado, in Craig. We will select a semi-finalist for each of the following counties: Routt County, Grand County, Jackson County, Moffat County and Rio Blanco County.  All semifinalists will receive a certificate of recognition, and JustServe will select an overall winner to be announced with the semifinalists for each county in a press release. Nominees do not need to be a JustServe user to be eligible for this award. Contact Holly Weik, JustServe coordinator, at [email protected] for a nomination form. Submissions are due by Jan. 31, 2023. The Craig Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, which includes congregations in all these counties, has agreed to coordinate a service activity or donation drive for the overall winner. This will be tailored to what the winning organization needs to assist their mission. For more information about the JustServe program visit https://www.justserve.org/.

Community dinner

MEEKER | Starting in 2023, we are going to be serving community dinners once a month (to start with) at the Meeker Veterans Community Center (a.k.a. V.F.W. Post 5843). The dinners will be on the third Thursday of the month and will be served at 290 4th St. from 5:30-6:30  p.m. The dinners are free to anyone and a good place to visit and meet new friends. The United Methodist Church will be hosting the dinner on Feb. 16, 2023. Eventually, we would like to have different local organizations host the dinners for our community. Contact Vicki Crawford at 970-756-5023 if interested in hosting a community dinner.
