RBC | County commissioners conducted more interviews Tuesday in work sessions for various boards, and appointed several in a brief regular meeting.
Sandra Besseghini was re-appointed to the Historic Preservation Board. Besseghini said she hopes to further pursue establishing a Certified Local Government (CLG), which opens doors for historic preservation funding not otherwise available.
According to a press release from History Colorado, “The CLG program is part of the State Historic Preservation Office. Currently 68 of Colorado’s 127 local governments have been certified by the State Historic Preservation Office and the National Park Service as CLGs. This distinction makes them eligible for grants and shows they participate in the national preservation program while maintaining standards consistent with federal archaeology and historic preservation requirements.”
Besseghini said a work session with the commissioners would be helpful to further explain and answer questions about becoming a CLG.
Emma Baker of Rangely was appointed to the planning commission, which acts as a “recommending board” according to RBC Planner Leif Joy. Baker said she enjoys donating her time to bettering the community.
Samantha Herrera, owner of Gio’s restaurant in Rangely, was appointed to the Rangely Lodging Tax Board along with Dorian Geba, who was interviewed last week.
