RBC I In a special meeting Tuesday the Rio Blanco County Commissioners approved an intergovernmental agreement with Moffat County for the provision of child welfare and adult protection services. The two counties currently share a director.
Commissioner Ty Gates said he wanted to make it clear the agreement is “on an interim basis” and that the county is working to fill Department of Human Services positions locally to avoid any break in services performed. Commissioner Jeff Rector agreed.
Former director Barb Bofinger expressed concerns about the agreement regarding whether Moffat County or Rio Blanco County policies will be followed, a subcontract situation with Kit Carson County that has been in effect for several years, and that the agreement does not mention services for at-risk adults, family engagement meetings, or what the scope of work is for evenings, weekends and holidays.
Commissioners directed Bofinger to current director Tia Murry for answers to her questions. Murry was not on the call.
The next meeting of the Board of County Commissioners is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 10 in Meeker.
