Members of the local P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization) gathered at the annual quilt show held at the old elementary school during the Meeker Classic Sheepdog Championship Trials. Local P.E.O. members Jewell Kindler, Peggy Shults, Marge Rogers, Trina Zagar-Brown, Stephanie Oldland, Heather Franklin and Margie Joy stand next to and behind Chantel Poole, who was granted a two week music session at Cotty College in Nevada, Mo., this summer. P.E.O. is a philanthropic organization where women celebrate the advancement of women; educate women through scholarships, grants, awards, loans and stewardship of Cottey College and to motivate women to achieve their highest aspirations. Proceeds from the annual quilt show and bake sale go to support the P.E.O. scholarship programs.
