Mrs. F.W. Fairfield and her daughter, Mrs. JoHantgen departed this week for an extended eastern visit.
Ex-Mayor Oldland is as happy these days as a small noy with his first pair of pants. Cause: He shifted the civic mantle of state to the shoulders of Citizen Simpson.

The County teachers examinations were held at the Court House on Thursday and Friday of this week. The following women took the exams, Esta Gentry, Edna Hamilton, Gladys Adames, Mrs. Eva Oldland, Mrs Tell Hottle, Mrs. Amy Anderson, and Mrs. Robert Clinard.
Kirk Shaw left yesterday for Thornburg to do some survey and location work for the Marland Oil company at that place.
Mr. and Mrs. Hausser of Strawberry were town visitors last Saturday.

The Meeker High School band will be hosting its annual band clinic on Wednesday and Thursday, April 16 and 17, when it will have the opportunity to work with instructors from the University of Northern Colorado.
“A Broken Post in Every Fence,” a novel by Mary Hansen, is out this week for sale and distribution.
Keith Dunbar, Rio Blanco County Judge. His wife Sue, their two sons, and Mrs. Dunbar’s mother, Mrs. Flora LeFevre, returned Tuesday of last week from a two week vacation in El Paso, Texas.

Meeker Elementary School has two Destination ImagiNation teams going on to the State Tournament. The teams placed first and third at the Regional competition on April 1, 2000 in Grand Junction.
The Meeker High School Art Department and Art Instructor Andy Goettel would like to invite the public to the Spring Art Show. The show will be set up in the Fairfield Center lobby from April 14 to 18.
Meeker’s renowned competition, pitting dog, sheep, and human, is expanding its horizons adding a special international competition among the world’s three foremost sheep dog trial nations–Great Britain, New Zealand, and the United States.

At the 1975 KICK-OFF DINNER sponsored by the Rangely Area Chamber of Commerce on April 1, Merrill Millett, General Manager for Moon Lake Electric Association, stated that his firm was not in a position to make an announcement on the starting date for the Rangely Reservoir at this time.
“Blithe Spirit” by Noel Coward will be presented at 7:30 p.m. April 17 and 18 by Rangely High School players.
The RHS track team took fifth place in Class B of the Mesa Invitational track meet Saturday in Grand Junction.

Harvest figures for deer and elk hunters in Colorado fell during 1999 in a hunting season dominated by warm weather that kept many animals out of range.
On April 8, 2000, the pee-wee wrestlers hosted a tournament. Forty-four young men competed in the tournament, and 33 played fourth or better.
Healthy Alternatives hopes to make the evening of prom more memorable by providing free limousine rides to prom attendees.
