Monday morning the thermometer registered zero. This was the first zero weather since the 14th of February. 

Indications point to the election of L.B. Walbridge for mayor next Tuesday. The campaign was brief, but in his canvass Boyd hasn’t overlooked a voter. Mark the prediction: His opponent will look like thirty cents when the ballots are counted.

All set for city election: Taxpayers’ ticket: For mayor, C.H. Farthing. For trustees, George Aicher, William Alfred, T.J. Cassidy. Citizens’ ticket: For mayor, John E. Wix. For trustees, J.R. Buckner, Van Ogden, R.O. Reynolds. 

The first real Spring storm came on Wednesday of this week. The storm was preceded by a display of lightning and thunder. 

The old blacksmith building on the corner of 6th and Market was wrecked past week. Mr. C.M. Scott will erect a filling station and battery shop on this location as soon as the weather will permit. It is certainly good to see that old log structure which has been an “eyesore” in the business

County rodent signup: Landowners who wish to participate in the 1976 Rio Blanco County Rodent Control program should contact the County Extension Office and request a Rodent Control application.

Government comes under attack daily it seems, and for good reason a lot of the time, especially the cancerous bureaucracy and mind boggling list of regulations which seem to do their best to hobble and frustrate our best efforts. Luckily, small town government hasn’t yet taken on the shape of its big brother. God help us all if it ever does. A man is judged at the polls not because he’s a Republican or a Democrat but on his reputation in the community.

The Board of School District Re-4 announces the hiring of Wayne Kelley as Asst. Superintendent of Schools for Planning and in areas of Curriculum coordination and development, in accordance with requests made last year to the legislature for Oil Shale Lease Funds.

The regularly scheduled meeting of the board of trustees of the Town of Rangely was not held March 23 since a quorum was not present.

Rio Blanco County Commissioner Kim Cook was present at the regular meeting in Meeker, March 26, even though he was on vacation in Nebraska, via a teleconference call. 

Wrestlers from Barone Middle School were down in numbers but finished on top in the team scoring to win the ultimate price. The young Cowboys won the season finale with 143 points, four champions, five runners-up, and one fourth place finisher. Some of the teammates included Drew Riegel, Tyrel Stout, Cody Clark, Jeff Overton, Nick Moody, Luis Villalpando, Steven Rust, Kyle Vaughn, Nick Ruckman and Weston McClure.
