The happiest man you will meet these days is the cattleman who depends largely on the range for food. The late rains, coupled with the good prospects for high beef prices, are the cause of his good humor.
A special meeting of the White River Stockgrowers Association will be held in Meeker on Saturday. A full attendance is desired as business of the utmost importance will be brought before the meeting. – Ben Price, President.

The Old Weather Man seems to have gone to sleep at the water switch as the daily rain continues to be the main course of events. One would think it would let up some time but there is no favorable outlook at this time.
A California article claimed a record for the tallest hollyhocks which measured over 11 feet. They were nice plants, but Meeker has them skinned, as Mrs. McMillan has some of the White River giants which measure over 12 feet!

Different levels of accomplishment by the dogs and their owners were in evidence during practice at the City Park as residents are encouraged to enter their dogs in the obedience classes at the County Fair next week.
Kick up your heels at a fun square dance this Thursday night at the Fairfield Building. If enough people are interested, it is hoped to start a regular square dance group in Meeker.

Anyone interested in learning to make pickles and jelly should plan to attend the Food Preservation workshop in Rangely at the Episcopal Church.
James Sinclair, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Sinclair, received a Master of Sciences degree in Agricultural Economics at the University of Wyoming summer commencement excercises held in Laramie.

Bureau of Land Management director announces the selection of Kent Walter as the White River Field Manager in Meeker. He has been the field manager in Monticello, Utah for the last five years.
There is a very tight connection between twins, and last Friday identical twins Hallie Turner and Molly Harvey used their synchronicity to win the open class in the Rio Blanco County fair team roping.
For people who like ice cream and take pride in making it, there will be an ice cream social at the Rangely Museum. There is no charge and the only task that people have is to eat ice cream and drink lemonade.
