There is a disposition in some quarters to divide the trusts into “good” and “bad”, but self-interest seems to be the main factor in making the division. It’s the old story—what helps me is good, what helps the other fellow is bad.

Sanderson & Sons have moved their second-hand store (across from Oldland’s) to the Sanderson building—near the courthouse. Notwithstanding the cold snap, the Sanderson’s are ready to trade in any article or commodity, and finance any enterprise—from fencing a corner lot to building a railroad.

B.C. Howey and wife were passengers on the outbound stage Thursday morning, en route to Denver and from thence to Chicago, Lafayette, Ind., and Louisville, Ky. Mr. Howey will spend some time at his boyhood home in Hardin County.

The cleverest aphorism we have seen for some time is from the Altoona Mirror: “Egotism is the anesthetic nature gives to deaden the pain of being a fool.”

There has been a great deal of discussion among White River sportsmen during the past summer concerning a species of fish caught in White River and by some called a “white fish” and by others “a grayling.” According to the report of Professor T.H. Bean, Curator, Department of Fishes, Smithsonian Institute, we can, in future, call the much-named fish “The Rocky Mountain white fish.”

Editor of Rangely News tells of trip to Meeker last week. 

Mr. Bren Sullivan, pioneer resident and stockman of the Williams Fork section of this county, came over from the ranch Monday and is spending the holidays with the family here in town. 

Lt. and Mrs. Joe Hilkey arrived in Meeker last week and are spending the holidays with Joe’s folks, Mr. and Mrs. John Hilkey and other Meeker relatives and friends.

R.G. Lyttle left Friday by bus for Littleton where he will remain thru the holiday visiting at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Alan Oldland and family. The Oldland’s daughter, Janice, employee of Meeker drug, will be joining the family prior to the holiday. 

A Christmas dinner party for personnel of the Western Slope Gas Company was held at Tommy’s Supper Club a week ago Saturday evening.

Most of life’s problems are like those cloverleaf interchanges we find on interstate highways…. Unlikely though it may seem there is a way out. 

A second grade class, from the Rangely Elementary School, along with teachers Betty Pidcock and Wanita Ott, decorated a Christmas tree on the corner of Main and Birth Streets at DUCO last Thursday. The students used ornaments they had made in the decoration.

Cowboy sophomore Trent Randall won the 103 pound championship of the Warrior Classic. Randall was a state qualifier as a freshman and has worked very hard during the off season. Randall is the first Warrior champion the Cowboys have had since Meeker’s three-time state champion Brandan Stewart won his only Warrior title in 1995. 

Mr. and Mrs. Jim D. Amick are pleased to announce the upcoming marriage of their daughter, Kelly DeeAnn Amick, to Barnabas Nathan LeBlanc, son of Bren and Sharron Sullivan. Kelly and Barney are 1997 graduates of Meeker High School.
