Poverty would soon be an unknown quantity if men could dispose of their experience at cost. 

Lark Craig has returned from “Old Mo” after a pleasant visit to his childhood haunts. And, incidentally, we might mention that Lark is getting fatter and jollier every day. 

The weather has been favorable to building operations during the past week, and substantial progress was made on the new Hay, Sanderson and Hossack residences. The work on St. James church also progressed satisfactorily.

Gerald Oldland was up from Piceance last Saturday and Sunday visiting family and attending to business. 

The editor was asked if he believed in dreams not by a jug full. Not so long ago he dreamed you came in and paid your subscription. 

Why in heck the state decided to issue wine colored automobiles license plates in this enlightened day is a mystery. To the ‘wets’ such tags will recall memories of another day, and to the ‘drys’ they will be a source of annoyance.

New head wrestling coach at Meeker High, Bill Turner, said this week “Meeker should be tough, and barring injuries, this could be our best year.” With a good crop of sophomores and several outstanding wrestlers returning from last season who were also under Turner as an assistant coach, Turner is optimistic about the coming season.

The White River Electric Association lineman installed the Christmas decorations across Main Street on November 29th. The WREA crew erecting the lights and garland commented that it felt very strange to be decorating in balmy, short-sleeve weather. Warm weather continues across most of the western US.

The 1999 Football Prom attendants were Sarah Conrado, and Matt Brennan, Nick Gianinetti, and Amanda Tate. Elisha Watt was elected the Queen, and Tel Gates the King.

The Colorado Wildlife Commission has approved a new big game season structure for the next five years with four separate rifle seasons, including an initial elk season where only a limited number of licenses will be available.

The Rangely Chamber of Commerce will again this year hold a Christmas Decorating contest with three prize divisions: Merchants, Residential Homes, and Children’s door or window. First prize in each division will be given the amount of $10.00 and second placers will be given $5.00.

The first home in Hillcrest Subdivision arrived Monday and was installed this week. The three bedroom home was delivered in three sections from Denver. It traveled over Berthod Pass without any problems. The new home will be completed in a couple of days.

CNCC’s young Spartans played a great game at Rock Springs, Wyoming on November 19th, 1999 as they led at the half 31 to 24.
