Dinner parties are all the rage now.
In conversation with Governor Roosevelt last evening, he told the reporter that he wished The Herald would express his most sincere thanks to the citizens of this valley for the courteous manner in which he has been treated, and that their generous hospitality would always be kindly remembered by him.
Twelve mountain lions are to the individual credit of Mr. Roosevelt during his recent outing in this vicinity. Eight of these he killed with a rifle and four with a knife.

Thursday afternoon at the usual assembly period the award was made for the best essay on Lincoln. This is a national contest sponsored by the Illinois Watch company.
It isn’t too early to get your farm machinery in shape for the Spring and Summer work. Don’t wait until the day you need it and then cuss because you are losing valuable time.
Paul Dunn was down from Marvine Monday. Paul reports the lightest snow fall in the upper country for a number of years.

Mountain Bell is preparing to provide direct distance dialing (DDD) service to Meeker this fall, according to local manager, Helen Thompson.
A check for $290,619 was hand-delivered to the Meeker School District Re-1 board Monday night by George Wear, the governor’s western slope energy coordinator.
Meeker’s six entries into the Colorado High School AA Wrestling Tournament came through with a tremendous showing in Denver last weekend which earned them a third place trophy.

The enrollment for most programs at CNCC is now completed and the figures are quite encouraging. In comparison with that of a year ago, the on-campus headcount is up by 17%.
Rangely is going to get a new water plant. The plant will be located east of Douglas Creek and have an implant capacity for a population of 10,000.
Myron Chase of Rangely was issued the Safe Driving nomination by State Patrol Officer Michael Kay.

There was a Valentine’s Day Celebration at the Long-Term Care Unit in Rangely on February 6, where everyone had plenty of materials to decorate Valentine’s Day Cards.
Short courses in beginning computers, beginning sketching, and basic drawing will begin next week at Colorado Northwestern Community College in Meeker.
The Panther’s J.V. boy’s basketball winning streak ended this week in Utah. The seven game streak began and ended with Uintah River.
