Today is ground-hog day. He could have seen his shadow this morning.

Several jags of snow fell during the week, and since yesterday morning it has been snowing nearly continuously. The tingle of the sleigh bells is again heard. 

On Tuesday Judge Gray was the recipient of a live possum from a Glenwood friend, and the judge is at a loss to know what to feed him.

Tuesday was groundhog day and the furry little animal should have seen his shadow as the day was clear and sunshiny. According to the prediction of weather prophets, this means six weeks more winter.

Another attempt to cap the Texas well at Rangely will be made this coming week. The eight inch casing was run and cemented two weeks ago and everything is now ready for another trial.

The big trucks are continuing to haul out our big grain crop.

In a unanimous decision by the Town Council Monday evening, Ron Hilkey was hired to fill the spot of police chief. 

A quick check of the school system seems to indicate that the flu has been working its way down from the upper grades to the lower grades.

Lillie Hughes accompanied Mrs. Ed Uncapher to Grand Junction Saturday to visit her son Norman, a patient at Veterans Hospital for the past two weeks.

The Rangely High School freshmen basketball team walloped Steamboat 68 to 44.

The CNCC Women’s Basketball team faced Fort Lewis College of Durango last weekend and were sadly defeated in both games by the more experienced team.

Over 100 people braved the cold to attend the annual Ducks Unlimited banquet in Meeker. The combination social event and fundraiser was held Monday night at the Fairfield Center.

Flint Chambers, currently a member of the Sheriff’s Department in Eagle County, has accepted the Chief of Police position in Rangely. 

Shoe Bingo was the game of choice at the 4H/Long Term Care Activities on Jan. 9 in Rangely. The object of the game, as many found out, is to remove your shoes and the only way to get them back is to win at Bingo.
