Off your hats to Neighbor Worth as a weather prognosticator. Last fall he prophesied that dust would be flying in the middle of winter, and the past two weeks has more than fulfilled his prediction.
It is said that worry kills more people than work–probably because more people worry than work.

Most all of last Saturday was warm and sunshiny, with the result that a large number of country people visited the city. Old Sol is now mounting up to the point where he can shed some warm rays when he gets a good chance.
Despite muddy roads on both ends the Harp Bros. are getting our mail in on good time these days.
This office is in receipt of a piece of coal from the Ninemile hill mine, which is about the finest piece of coal we have seen in these parts. It is as hard as anthracite. Tom Foreman is running this mine.

Yep, that basket is up there, but the MHS girls’ JV team just can’t get through it! JV final score was Craig 21, Meeker 8.

Long-time Meeker rancher Glen W. Hauck, 83, died Wednesday morning, January 27, at his home in Grand Junction after a long illness.
Sleepy Cat Guest Ranch announced plans for their Sweetheart Dances on February 11, 12, and 13. Dinner specials will include prime rib, steak and lobster, and sirloin steak.

Panther junior varsity cagers won their first contest Friday beating Battle Mountain 65-51.
Panther matmen beat Battle Mountain 29-10 Friday and lost to Eagle Valley 21-40 here on Saturday.
Rangely’s Charlie Cady, 11, and Mont E. Warren, 13, participated in the State Hoop-Shoot-Off sponsored by the Elks Saturday in Colorado Springs. Cady and Warren tied second in their respective age divisions.

The Rangely basketball team lost two games over the weekend.
Twenty-seven bighorn sheep were released January 27 into Dinosaur National Park to bolster the sheep population in the Yampa River drainage.
This year’s CNCC production is the Wizard of Oz, and it’s off to a great start.
