Plenty of gold at the head of Piceance Creek, is the latest.

Vice-President-elect Roosevelt and party will arrive in Meeker about next Thursday or Friday. 

Steamboat Springs is putting in an electric light plant. Meeker is next on the list, and negotiations began this week which may lead to tangible results ere spring opens.

The weather forecast would indicate more snow. And the more we get now the better are our chances for an early Spring.

Sheridan Bros this week shipped a car load of fat hogs to the Denver market. The hog market is high this year and the Sheridan boys should make good on their shipment.

This is the 20th Annual National Western Stock Show. It starts next Saturday at Denver.

Snowmobile machines running on the streets and in the alleys in Meeker are operating illegally, the Town Council reminded the public at its regular monthly meeting Monday night.

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ertmer and children, who drove to Denver the day after Christmas, visited throughout the remaining school vacation with their parents living there. 

Mr. and Mrs. Martin Villa, Mary K and John returned home Saturday from a two week trip to California.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Rangely Ward is proud to announce the completion of their new chapel.

A large majority (86.2%) feel it is important for Rangely to grow. 25.2% of Rangely area respondents would like to see Rangely’s population grow to a maximum of 7,501-10,000.

Announcement was made this week of the merger of Goosman Realty of Meeker with Rio Blanco Realty Inc. of Rangely, effective January 1.

Meeker Elementary was awarded a $34,650 grant from the state for the Read to Achieve program.

The Meeker Roping Club sponsored a jackpot roping event on New Year’s Day to start the 21st century. One of the winners was an 11-year-old boy from Craig, Jaguar Terrill.

The White River Snowmobile Club purchased a brand new Bombardier BR 180 groomer last November. Rio Blanco Herald Times reporter Bobby Gutierrez recently rode along with operator Rusty Nay as they groomed Miller Creek.
