Most of the first cutting of hay is over and it can rain now.
In response to a call issued by Mayor Walbridge, a goodly number of property owners and taxpayers assembled at the courthouse last Monday evening. Mayor Walbridge called the meeting to order and after stating the object, A.C. Moulton was elected as chairman, and H. A. Wildhack secretary.

Haying is well under way and the crop is proving much better than at first expected. The Mesa is the only section where crops are exceptionally light.
Dempsey found the fatal spot in the seventh round- a left to the jaw and a right to the body- and Sharkey took the count of ten before a crowd of 80,000 fans in the Yankees stadium in New York. In the early stages Sharkey was favored to win and had Dempsey well in hand.

After nearly three weeks of dry weather and 90 degree temperatures, Meeker and the surrounding area found themselves deluged the early part of this week as storms dropped over an inch and a half of rain.
Paul Nicholson: Resisting arrest; engaged in conduct that alarmed and seriously annoyed; possession of not more than 1 oz of cannabis. Charges dismissed by Judge Hoff because the District Attorney failed to appear.

Rangely’s Ed Johnson baseball team plays the winner of the Leadville-Gunnison game in the State Tournament today, Thursday at 5 p.m. at Grand Junction. Undefeated to date and coached by Jack Elder, Rangely has ten wins going into today’s game.
The classes of 1955 and 1956 are holding a reunion on July 24 and 25 and they would like to invite other alumni to the Saturday night dance starting at 9 p.m. at the Chevron Rec Hall.

The Town of Rangely grudgingly agreed to pay former police Chief Larry Elarton $13,750 during a special meeting July 17.
The Meeker School District Board of Education voted to expel an eighth grade student for the 2001-2002 school year.
The annual senior picnic is slated for Thursday, August 9.
The safe taken during a burglary at the Meeker Golf Course has been found. The safe was found on mule up Country Road 38 Monday in a creek with most of the contents missing.
