A number of our cowboys who intend on taking part in the tournament on the Fourth did some tilting practice during the week and proved themselves quite the experts at this exciting sport. 

Has the curfew ordinance been repealed? We don’t hear the bell any more. 

A number of very fast horses will be here on the Fourth.

Samuel Gourley returned from Denver Sunday after a week in the capitol city. Sam drove a new Chevrolet truck home to be used in connection with their furniture store. 

The Stork visited the Shehorn family at Grand Junction hospital last Sunday and left a fine baby girl. Grandma and Grandpa Wilber are rejoicing with the parents over the new addition to the Shehorn family.

Last Saturday afternoon during the several rain storms the new Dodge Sedan of HF Arnold was badly damaged in a collision with a Hudson Super Six. Despite the seriousness of the wreck, no one was hurt in either car.

Primarily for the benefit of newcomers to Meeker, the interference problems of the local TV channels which have been occurring the past several weeks, are the result of weather phenomenon. Since it is a weather related problem, there is nothing that can be done about it.

Coley Turner, Scott Dandrich, Keenan Turner, Casey Turner, Kai Turner, and Brett Harvey won medals at last weekend’s junior freestyle wrestling tournament in Aurora.

Body Bag, the nastiest bull at Meeker’s Range Call rodeo, will be back again this year.

If everything goes as planned, the Meeker Herald and Rangely Times will have new owners by July 1. We’ve accepted an offer from Kerry and Joy Murdock of Grand Junction for both newspapers. 

Dean and Artie Parr were chosen as the Grand Marshalls of the Range Call parade.

Congressman Jim Johnson has notified the Town of Rangely that the Economic Development Administration is giving a $1,817,000 grant to the State of Colorado, which in turn will be loaned out to three western Colorado communities which face sharp increases due to energy development.

A Charity Dance is being sponsored Friday night by the Volunteer Firemen at the Fire Hall from 9 to 2 with music by the Westernaires. Everyone is invited to attend. 

The annual Little Buckaroo Rodeo will be coming to Rangely again July 2 and 3 with each performance beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The Rangely 8 & Under IM Medley Hurricane Swim Team remains undefeated. 

Due to the Utah Statewide fire restriction, there will not be the usual Firework Display at the Flaming Gorge Dam. 

After hearing public comment in both Rangely and Roosevelt on proposed changes to monthly rate schedule, the Board of Directors of Moon Lake Electric voted affirmatively to adopt new monthly minimums on its rate schedules.
