A man in Virginia, rode 40 miles to Fairfax Station, for the express purpose of getting Chamberlain’s Cough Remedy, and took home with him a dozen bottles of medicine.
Another old landmark began to disappear this week. The adobe where Judge Hazen once kept Uncles Sam’s books is being removed to make room for a brick-store room.
…minister married twelve couples in sixty minutes the other day. Twelve knots an hour may not be able to hold a tallow dip to ocean greyhound speed, but it is a pretty good time on the troubled matrimonial sea.

Sheriff Wilson was called to Rangely Sunday last week to find that he was expected to adjust a neighborly dispute. This is not in his line.
JW Watson, the Grand Junction florist attended the I.O.O.F fish fry. As usual, he brought a car load of carnations for all the ladies.
Last week’s Rifle Telegram reports that a contract had been let to the Northwest Construction Company of Craig for a graveling of a stretch of the Meeker-Rifle highway to be finished before January 1,1994. We will soon have the city boulevard between the two towns.

Bill Tripp, 18 year old son of Mr. and Ms. Pat Tripp of Miller Creek, was Colorado’s 302nd fatality this year when he died after a one-car accident Friday afternoon.
District Ranger, Blanco Ranger District, reports that all lands of the United States within the boundaries of the White River National Forest are closed to the discharging of any kind of fireworks.
Mrs. Irwin Wins creative writing award… her prize was a $5 bill and several books for writers which she will make available for her students to use in class next year. Mrs. Irwin joined the club because of a life-long interest in creative writing, and the award was certainly an honor to receive.

The Meeker Library has received a $2000 grant from the state Department of Education, which oversees the state library system, to replace books. According to Mike Bartlett, the library director, the Meeker faculty received the grant after the state declared large proportions of the Meeker collection was to be out of date.
There will be two barn dances for the range call this year in Meeker, and The Kuzins Band will furnish the music.
Meeker lifeguards have challenged all swimmers in Meeker to a swimming competition. If any team beats the lifeguards, the guards will treat the winning team to a pool party. The lifeguards are Thane Stranathan, Jessie Bibb, Angie Viscardi, John Strate, Kristofer Borchard, Dovan Harmon and Jason Weeldryer.

Janice A. Atkinson, daughter of Mr and Mrs Darrel T Muller, received an Associate in Applied Science degree in Data Processing from Mesa College. She was Cited for having academic excellence, having a grade point average of 3.88.
The Campus Theater announces that showtime for the double- feature Disney movies Saturday will be at 7:30 pm instead of 8 p.m, to allow small children to see both movies and be home at a reasonable hour.

Nicholas N. White, son of Bushrod and Ginny White, has been given an Athletic Award for Football, Music Award for Concert Choir, and a Theatre Award from Sterling College.
Rangely- Several 4-H members participated in the second annual Kit n’ Kaboodle Day. Several competitions were held, including Talent, Speech, and Demonstratives, and Creative Cooks.
The Rangely Hurricanes swam to a respectable fifth place finish at the Sopris Invitational Swim Meet in Carbondale.
