Travelers over the Yampa river divide in the early part of this week reported the roads in bad condition.

Word was received from Sheriff Amick Thursday evening to the effect that he had caught the horse thief (Sam Green) he was after. The capture was made near Vernal, Utah.

The Denver Times of last Sunday gave two pages to Meeker–consisting mostly of illustrations and entertaining “write-ups” of our business men.

Prohibition may not prohibit but it plays thunder with the quality.

The weather the past week has been warm and sunshiny in these parts while in some of the northeastern states they were visited with severe snowstorms.

Mrs. Nellie Reagle, who homesteaded and ranched on Piceance Creek for over 50 years, passed away Thursday, April 24, at the Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Springs.

Beverly Dene Moyer, a graduate of Meeker High School this spring, has been awarded an Academic Scholarship at Stevens Henager College, Ogden, Utah, valued at $600.

What started out to be a nice, warm day for a Saturday track meet turned out to be a very windy day, which slowed down the times of the girls considerably.

The Meeker Town Council on May 2 gave the approval for the town to purchase 117 acres of land for $250,000 from a large group of owners. The land is located just west of the town limits, at the intersection of Main and Market streets.

Meeker’s Cowboy Poet Gathering enjoyed a sell out evening show in only its second year.

In Dinosaur, the National Park Service honored Arbor Day (April 25) by presenting each student in school with a small ponderosa pine tree.

The Rio Blanco County Extension Director Laurel Covington will be holding a tailoring class beginning Monday, May 5.

Rangely High Track team took fifth place at Craig Saturday scoring 22.5 team points. Steamboat Springs took first in a field of 16 teams, and Grand Junction took second.

Rangely District Hospital is very pleased to announce that Richard O. Gritzmacher, MD, M.P.H., has accepted a position with our clinic.

Rangely High School Senior, Shanna Hayden, has signed a letter of intent to play volleyball at McPherson College in Kansas. 

The Lady Panthers had a great Saturday in Rifle coming home with 5th place (56 points) out of 22 teams and two new school track records!
