The south fork of the White River is now represented in town by families of Messrs. T.M. Bailey, Joe Peltier and Fred W. Kracht. They are here to take advantage of our excellent school facilities.
Locally the elections passed off quietly. On the face of the returns the Democracy got the best of it, electing R. Oldland as treasurer, Amick sheriff, Rector commissioner and Tagert assessor.
Whiskey may be man’s worst enemy, but some men make a speciality of loving their enemies.

We are getting quite a few new-comers these days. All believe Meeker and surrounding country is on the eve of substantial growth.

Fred Burke of Piceance was a Monday visitor to the county seat. He received fairly good prices in Denver lately for his cattle.

In honor of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Cook of Meeker who will observe their golden anniversary on November 18th, an open house is being planned by members of the family.
Piceance Creek residents Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Oldland announced the birth of their firstborn on Wednesday, November 6th at 4:30am at the Valley View hospital in Glenwood Springs. Her name is Melisa Ann.
Mrs. Marie Sexson and her daughter in law Charlotte Wix recently returned from a week spent in Denver where the ladies visited family and friends.

If you were hunting for bears, conditions were prime. If you were hunting for deer or elk you were definitely challenged. The warm, dry weather conditions kept the animals in the high tundra, away from the hunters. The bear, however, were active as there is still plenty of forage and they had no need to hibernate as yet. I guess that’s the way it goes!
The Ladies Social Club of Meeker held their annual Craft Fair last weekend. The fair hosted over 15 booths and was an example of all this town has to offer. We don’t always have to run off to the malls out of town.

Every year, Rangely Elks Lodge hosts the annual Charity Ball and Raffle to raise money for their Christmas Basket Program, which provides boxes of food, toiletries, and toys to local families in needy circumstances.
Coming off their big win at Meeker, the Rangely varsity Panther football team looked to finish their season on a high note as they traveled to Hotchkiss for their season finally. The Panthers walked away with a 41 – 25 victory and a 6-3 record for the season.
