Two close heats were sailed this week in the contest between the Columbia and Shamrock, but the boats failed to make the required time and the races were declared off.
There were seventeen Missourians in town yesterday in addition to Lark Craig.
The dance to be given next Friday evening by the young folks will be the first of the season and promises to be a very pleasant affair.

W A Patterson came in from Denver last week on a visit with Reuben Ball and also to deer hunt. Reuben and Pat were roommates last winter in Denver.

The newly organized Rio Blanco Arts Association is sponsoring its first exhibit to be held at the Fairfield Center. It will be an exhibit of local artists and all forms of arts and crafts will be on display.
The measure to convert to standard time across the country did not have the energy saving effect that was hoped for. Actually the bill saved almost no energy at all, or public utilities could not tell the difference. As a result, virtually all Americans will set their clocks back one hour on October 27th.

Andy Coryell had the best game of his career Sunday, leading the Mesa State College football team to a 49-21 rout of Adams State. The junior quarterback from Meeker rushed for 108 yards, had three touchdown passes and threw for 101 yards, and Monday was named the RMAC offensive player of the week.
Pat Daggett’s pastel painting “Over the Top” placed first in the professional pastel category at the Glenwood Art Guild’s Fall Art Festival this past week. This show is considered the premiere show of the Western Slope. Artists are permitted to submit only 2 pieces to the show. Last year’s sales from this show garnered over $90,000.

Miss Linda McDonald became the bride of George Lopez on September 14th in an outside wedding ceremony during sunset at the Lakes in Tempe, Arizona.

Coming off back to back losses, the Rangely Panther Varsity Football squad won a crucial home game against Olathe. The final score was a 21-18 Panther victory. The key player on the offensive side was Lane Starbuck, who was responsible for all three Rangely scores.
