When you see a man’s ears stuffed with cotton, it’s a question whether he has earache or a scolding wife.

The most important project to be discussed by the International Geographical Congress is the making of a new map of the world on a scale of 1 to 1,000,000. This means a good sized map, where the United States would be given sixteen feet of space, while the largest map of this country now in use, is only six feet five inches of space.

Paul Deeds and Mark Skinner, two prominent Denver citizens, were brought in Sunday and fined $100 each and costs for having deer hung up in their camp a day before the season opened. 

Old Man Winter was at the bat last Saturday all over the Rocky Mountain region. At places along the road snow fell to a depth of over a foot. A number of auto parties coming in from the plains to be here in time for the opening of hunting season got caught on top of Rabbit Ears pass and had to camp out all night; suffering considerable hardship.

Paul Starbuck, former vocational agriculture instructor and FFA advisor at Meeker High School for 33 years, received the FFA’s Honorary American Farmer degree during ceremonies at the National FFA Convention held in Kansas City, Missouri. 

Coach Bob Tucker’s Cowboys will hit the road this Friday, traveling to Craig, with game time scheduled for 7:30pm.

Bill and Donna Wille just love to decorate their yard at 369 Market Street, especially at Halloween! This year, the couple spent an entire day creating an elaborate tableau of ghosts and goblins, spider webs and bats, rats and body parts. If you just drive by, you miss a lot. Before Halloween is over, you should walk past their place to really enjoy all their hard work.

On Saturday some 64 students, faculty and staff from Northwestern Community College enjoyed an exciting and scenic trip by raft from Flaming Gorge Dam to Little Hole Campground.

Cedar Ridges Golf Course was the site of the 1999 Panther Invitational and the weather did not cooperate, as usual. Strong winds and cold temperatures attempted to intimidate the eight teams who ventured out to compete.

Once again the Rangely High School Student Council put on a wonderful homecoming for all students. This year’s theme was “All Star”, and the students shined bright!
