There are still four widows of Revolutionary War soldiers on the pension rolls of the government in Washington. At this rate, the United States will be paying pensions to soldiers of the Civil War or their widows well on in the last of the coming century.

A man’s repentance is never genuine when it merely comes from the fact that he was discovered.

Thursday night was the coldest of the season so far – 25 above zero.

Among the Meeker girls attending the Western Teachers College, at Gunnison, is Miss Marguerete LaGrange. Miss LaGrange is a graduate of our high school and is a bright and talented young lady.

Janice Mintz, who was employed as a Registered Nurse at a camp in Estes Park for the summer months, is now in town visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Mintz.

Millions of children already know about the television program Mister Rogers Neighborhood. This new program for parents will explore Fred Rogers the man, the educator, the child development specialist, and, above all, the humanist. 

With both Colorado Senators in favor of the increased Flat Tops Wilderness area, Cooley said he believes there is a chance that a Flat Tops Wilderness designation bill may come out of this session of Congress.

Meeker Fire Rescue responded to an alarm in the Hugus Building at 5th and Main last Saturday. Newly elected fire Chief, Mike Cook, stated “We recently acquired a Cairnes Infrared helmet, which can detect fires inside walls and aid with searching for victims was used to check the building.” He visited the scene with firemen Vaughn Moodie and Bud Miles.

A quick way to old age is through boredom – the way to remain young and vigorous in old age is to keep active and enthusiastic about living. 

Halftime at the Panthers Homecoming football game featured the Rangely High Band and the Rangely Drill Team. Homecoming royalty were junior Brenda Hatch, sophomore Debbie Hazelwood and Freshman Holly Day. Homecoming Queen was senior Kathy Caldwell.

The RHS Marching Band begins its competitive season this weekend with a parade and field show contest in Grand Junction on Saturday, October 2.  

Rangely Christian Church is happy to welcome a new pastor… Tom and his wife Nancy have answered the call from the Christian Church and will be moving here from Culver, Oregon.
