RBC | During December 2009, the Rio Blanco County Communications Center logged 588 incidents, down from December 2008 totals of 823, which is a 28.6 percent decrease in activity.
The number of calls for service decreased for the sheriff’s office with 174 incidents in December 2009, down significantly from 316 in December 2008. Traffic stops also decreased from 281 in December 2008 to 201 in December 2009 for the sheriff’s office. The Meeker P.D. responded to 135 calls for service during December 2009, down from 174 in December 2008. Traffic stops for the Meeker P.D. increased significantly from 33 stops in December 2008 to 61 stops in December 2009.
Activity for both agencies included these most notable classifications: 262 traffic stops; 39 animal calls; 35 accidents with property damage; 25 incidents assisting the Colorado State Patrol; 24 VIN inspections; 23 motorist assists; 19 suspicious incidents; 13 traffic complaints; 12 citizen assists; 12 traffic arrests; eight incidents assisting other agencies; eight narcotics cases; seven disturbances; seven warrant arrests; five civil situations; five fraud cases; five property cases; five thefts; four fires; four harassment cases; three hit and run accidents; three DUIs; two juvenile problems; one burglary; one criminal mischief case; one domestic violence case; one probation violation; one restraining order violation and one sexual assault.
During December 2009, the Rio Blanco County Detention Center housed a daily average of 12.35 inmates, with 11.61 males and 0.74 females, down from a daily average of 15.57 inmates in November 2009. The number of bookings decreased in December 2009 with 54 people processed in the detention center, down from 81 in November 2009. Of the 54 people processed in December 2009, 45 were jailed and nine were booked and released. The number of meals served by the detention center decreased in December 2009 with 1,010 meals, down from 1,171 meals in November 2009.
The Rangely Police Department reported its communications center logged 233 incidents during December 2009. Of those incidents, the most noteworthy classifications for the Rangely P.D. include: 89 traffic contacts; 15 VIN inspections; 13 alarm calls; 12 arrests; 12 lock-outs; nine incidents assisting Rio Blanco County Sheriff; eight disturbances; five animal control calls; five harassment cases; four property damage/stolen property cases; four warrant arrests; three citizen assists; three narcotics cases; three welfare checks; two DUI arrests; one assault; one incident assisting the Colorado State Patrol and one suspicious incident.
