A curious sight popped on up the administration building lawn last week. A “fairy circle” of what appear to be shaggy mane mushrooms appeared at the site of an old, large tree that was removed due to disease a few years ago. A fairy circle is a naturally occurring ring or arc of mushrooms generally found in forested areas and is infamous in folklore for being an enchanted place of danger or good fortune, depending on who you ask.
The ring disappeared Wednesday, but it had nothing to do with magic and everything to do with regularly scheduled lawn maintenance.
