First, some news from our family to yours. We’re thrilled to announce that Lucas and Haley Turner have added a new baby to the family. Emmy Rose arrived Monday evening. All is well and we are grateful.
Also, Caitlin Walker will be out for a few weeks for a necessary medical procedure. We’ll get the paper out regardless, but we ask for your patience for the next few weeks.
Second, a bit of office housekeeping. We are adopting “winter hours” here at the office, closing at 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday instead of 6 p.m. Why, you ask? Well, for one, we don’t work regular hours anyway… many of our evenings and weekends include meetings and events to cover, articles to write, interviews to track down, research to do, and papers to distribute. I’m writing this at 8:30 p.m. on a Tuesday, as an example. Rest assured, phone messages and emails will be received even if we miss your call or visit.
Last, next week (Oct. 3-9) is National Newspaper Week. Thank you to all our readers, advertisers and subscribers for keeping this paper alive and well for 137 years. We appreciate you, each and every one.
