Slimy green gunk has begun to coat the bottom of the White River again this year.
Filamentous green algae, also known as cladophora or the more poetic ‘rock snot’, has been a recurrent issue in the waterway. A USGS study is underway to determine the cause, with results expected next year, and the White River Algae Technical Advisory Group (TAG) holds meetings to discuss analyses and findings.
