MEEKER | Reports of losses and damages from the Elk and Lee Fires are just beginning to come in as the focus starts to shift from the fire to its aftermath.
You may not know Bob Kydd by name or face, but if you ever enjoyed the famous scones at the old Sleepy Cat Lodge, you “know” his work.
Now 87-years-old, Kydd’s home was destroyed in the Elk Fire, taking everything he owned.
Rachel Wix and Ryan Wix (the Wix family owned and operated Sleepy Cat Lodge for many years) have set up a GoFundMe for Kydd, who didn’t have coverage for any of his posessions.
Funds from the campaign will help Kydd secure temporary housing, replace essential iems, clean up what’s left and start over. As of press time, more than half of a $24,000 goal had been raised.
To donate, you can visit https://gofund.me/0d206f7 or donate directly to Kydd through Bank of the San Juans. Please note: the bank can only accept checks made out directly to “Bob Kydd.”
