In unofficial results posted Tuesday, the Rio Blanco County Clerk and Recorder’s office reports Ty Gates is the winner of the District 3 commissioner seat over challenger Mona Avey.
Gates has 1,043 votes (62.49%) and Avey has 626 votes (37.51%). The winner of the race will replace Si Woodruff on the board of commissioners.
Election turnout is listed at 46.74%, with 1,873 out of 4,007 ballots returned.
