An “apparent wire transfer fraud scam” was reported by the Rio Blanco Water Conservancy District, with a loss of the majority of a $4 million grant from the county’s CCITF grant toward the Wolf Creek Reservoir project planning. The “call on the river” instituted by the Rio Blanco Water Conservancy District at the end of 2022 was lifted in April and reinstated later in the year. Ambrus simplex (aka shield-backed katydids or Mormon crickets) came back to Rio Blanco County for a lengthy and unwelcome visit.
