Sunday was a great sunny day to do some ice fishing at Lake Avery, about 21 miles east of Meeker. In addition to a couple of snowmobilers, the fishermen and women hauled bait, rods, reels, chairs and powered augers to cut a hole through the ice. One gentleman fisherman, who was just a bit frustrated, said when asked how the ice fishing was going, “it is a great day for fishing; not so much for catching.” Above, this group gets ready to fish. Below, this woman, right, uses a big blade and knife to shape her fishing hole.
