June calls for service increase 4.8 percent

RBC — The total number of incidents received by the Rio Blanco County Communica-tions Center increased 4.8 percent during the first six months of 2008 compared to 2007 totals. However, in June 2008, the communications center logged 992 incidents during the month, down from 1,031 incidents in June 2007.
The sheriff’s office responded to 267 calls for service in June 2008, up from 258 calls for service in June 2007. Traffic stops decreased in June 2008 for the sheriff’s office with 414 stops, down from 523 stops in June 2007. The Meeker Police Department responded to 207 calls for service in June 2008, up from 185 in June 2007. Traffic stops also increased for Meeker PD in June 2008 with 61 stops, up from 22 in June 2007.
June’s most notable activity for both departments included 475 traffic stops, 62 VIN inspections, 56 animal calls, 34 traffic complaints, 30 suspicious incidents, 22 disturbances, 21 civil situations, 19 incidents assisting the Colorado State Patrol, 16 thefts, 16 traffic arrests, 15 motorist assists, 15 warrant arrests, 14 accidents with property damage, 11 citizen assists, seven fires, six DUI’s, four injury accidents, three criminal mischief cases, three fraud cases, three narcotics cases, two hit and run accidents, two child abuse cases, two harassment cases, one fatal accident, one case of domestic violence, one parole violation arrest and one suicide.
During June 2008, the Rio Blanco County Detention Center’s average daily inmate population was 15.93 inmates, with 15.10 males and 0.83 females. A total of 70 people were booked into the detention center with 60 people jailed and 10 people booked and released. The detention center served 1,263 meals in June 2008. The Department of Corrections was billed for 32 man days totaling $1,590.08, for boarding prisoners awaiting transport to DOC facilities. Prisoners serving on work release were billed for 106 man days totaling $4,400.
