RBC I The body of Edward Grove, 53, was found Tuesday morning, Jan. 3 by his wife Dawn near the White River approximately 16 miles west of Meeker.
According to Rio Blanco County Detective Travis Mobley, the case is currently an open investigation. Grove died of a gunshot wound and a gun was found near the body.
Mobley said the body was with the coroner’s office and would be taken to Grand Junction for an autopsy and toxicology report.
Benny Jensen, owner of Western Gravel LLC, said Grove worked as a loader hand since the opening of the gravel pit in the spring of 2009 and lived on “the old Johnson Ranch property,” approximately a mile from Western Gravel LLC.
Jensen said Grove and his wife recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary, and he leaves behind a son and a daughter from a previous marriage.
